What Could We Accomplish Together Over the Next Year?

Imagine walking into the gym a year from now and spending less time working around your body, and more time enjoying working on your body.

You feel more comfortable getting into a squat. Reaching overhead feels easier. That shoulder you’ve been protecting since that old injury 20 years ago feels stronger and more dependable. You even finish a workout feeling challenged, without wondering whether you’ll regret it tomorrow, and how long it will be until you're recovered.

Even outside the gym you notice changes too. Getting off the floor with your kids feels easier. You’re less hesitant to try some new activity. You even feel more prepared for a hike, a busy weekend, or whatever life asks of you that day!

What would those changes be worth to you?

You don’t have to be dealing with a major injury to want more from the way your body moves and feels. Sometimes, the starting point is simply realizing how much you’ve gotten used to working around your limitations.

“I’m not injured. I just don’t move the way I want to.” We hear versions of this all the time.

None of your issues ever feels serious enough to stop you. But it’s enough to be so frustrating at times!

And because you’re still functioning "good enough", it’s easy to keep putting it off, hoping it will get better on its own. You try another stretch you found on Instagram, save another mobility video from TikTok, and tell yourself you’ll work on it when life slows down.

Weeks and then months pass.... and you’re STILL dealing with the same limitations.

This is where consistent, individualized performance work can make a difference. By giving those goals the attention, structure, and follow-through they rarely get on their own, amazing progress can be made. And you're going to wonder why you didn't do anything about it sooner

We start by figuring out what would actually help you.

“Move better” means something different to everyone.

For you, it might mean feeling comfortable in a squat, whether that's in the gym or playing with your kids. It might mean rebuilding confidence in a previously injured knee to run again, improving your ability to get down to the floor, or developing enough strength to keep up with the training you enjoy with the people who keep you motivated.

We begin with those goals, then we thoroughly assess the mobility, strength, and control involved in the affected area to develop a baseline and develop your treatment plan.

Contrary to popular belief, a feeling of tightness doesn’t automatically mean you need more stretching in that area. An old injury doesn’t automatically mean something is still damaged. And a movement that looks different from someone else’s doesn’t necessarily need correcting. That's the beauty of having a professional assessment, it gives you a clear plan and understanding. Something every other attempt at fixing these issues never had.

The purpose of the assessment is to identify what matters for you, so the work has a clear direction and keeps you on track.

Over the first few months, we build a foundation you can use.

We might work on accessing a position that currently feels restricted, developing strength through a range you tend to avoid, or improving control during a movement that feels awkward.

We also help you fit that work into your actual life.

We know you have workouts you enjoy (when you have the time), a job, a family, and limited time to begin with. Your plan needs to account for all that. We give you a manageable amount of purposeful work, and by doing that repeated consistently, it will give us something to build on. Even 10 minutes a day can do wonders!

Early progress might look like needing fewer modifications on certain exercises, feeling more confident with certain weights, or noticing that an everyday task takes less effort. Those changes help us decide what to progress next and make sure we stay on the right path.  And as time goes on, the work grows with you.

Getting more comfortable with a movement is a starting point. Then we can explore how well you handle it with more resistance, more repetitions, or the demands of your favorite activity. Our goal is to keep you constantly moving forward.

We constantly reassess, adjust when necessary, and keep the work connected to your goals. If your training changes, your plan can change with it. If something isn’t helping, we address it and pivot to something that works better for you.

Maybe your next goal is a local race, getting back to a favorite CrossFit movement, or enjoying a long walk through a Columbus area Metro Park without feeling limited by the same old issues. Those goals give the work a purpose beyond what happens during an appointment.

Consistent performance work doesn’t mean attending appointments forever or following the same exercises every month. The frequency of support should reflect what you need, with the goal of helping you become more capable and independent. Most people elect to come to the clinic once or twice a month to supplement their home mobility program.

A year from now, what would you like to feel ready for?

We can’t promise a year without aches or setbacks. But we can work toward meaningful improvements in your strength, movement, and confidence, and help you understand how to keep building on them every year.

You don’t have to wait until you’re injured to start addressing the things that hold you back.

At Competitive Edge Physical Therapy and Performance, we help active adults in the Columbus, New Albany, and Westerville area work toward the way they want to move, train, and feel.

Schedule an free discovery call, and let’s talk about what we could accomplish together over the next year.
