If you haven’t heard of HYROX, you may have been living under a rock.

If you're out of the loop, HYROX is a fitness race that combines running with varying functional movements, and it’s quickly becoming one of the most popular fitness trends in the world.

The format is simple: run a 1k, complete a workout ( sled pushes, rowing, lunges, wall balls, etc) then repeat—eight times total. What makes HYROX stand out is that every race is the same, no matter where you compete, and there are divisions for all fitness levels, from first-timers to elite athletes.

Its rise in popularity comes from the fact it gives everyday active people something concrete to train for without needing to be a specialist in any one thing.

You don’t have to be a marathon runner or a CrossFit athlete—just someone who likes to train and wants a challenge. Oh, and you will definitely get a challenge! Even the Elite athletes struggle to finish this race in under 1 hour.

Add in the high-energy atmosphere, packed arenas with family and friends, and a strong sense of community, and HYROX has become the go-to event for people who want to test their fitness and have fun doing it.

HYROX definitely isn’t for everyone, but for those who have competed, you can definitely see why it has caught on like wildfire!
