Cold plunges, massage guns, compression boots, supplements, peptides, red light devices... the list goes on. Taking care of your body can start to feel like another full-time job, especially when you’re already balancing workouts, work, and kids. Do you really need an elaborate recovery routine to keep feeling good? If you're getting caught wondering what you should or should not be doing, we always suggest to **Start by looking at the habits those tools can’t replace.** Before adding another gadget or habit, ask yourself: Am I sleeping enough, eating enough to support my training, making room to decompress, and consistently working on the movements that need attention? Pick the area that needs the most work and start with one change you can repeat every day this week.

**Sleep and nutrition are the foundation.** If you’re regularly getting five hours of sleep and skipping meals, that’s a good place to focus your effort. Aim for roughly seven to nine hours of sleep, starting by moving your bedtime up 15–30 minutes and setting a reminder to wind down. Put your phone away and give yourself a consistent window to get to bed. With nutrition, think beyond simply “eating healthy”, you also need enough fuel for what you’re asking your body to do. Include a protein source at each main meal, pair it with carbohydrates such as rice, potatoes, oats, or fruit, and keep water accessible throughout the day. And don't forget those vegetables. I make it a priority at each major meal to have some vegetables.  If your schedule regularly leaves you going hours without eating after training, pack something convenient, like Greek yogurt and fruit or a protein bar. The more you can m**ake the basics easier to follow,** the less complicated your plan has to be.

**Stress management deserves a place in your plan, too.** Work deadlines, family responsibilities, and a packed schedule can make it harder to sleep well and feel ready to train. You don’t need to eliminate stress or become an expert at meditation. Try a 10-minute walk at lunch, two minutes of slow, comfortable breathing after work, or a phone free wind-down before bed. Choose one and attach it to something you already do so it becomes part of your day. When life gets especially demanding, give yourself permission to shorten a workout or make it easier instead of forcing your usual intensity. Recovery shouldn’t become one more obligation that leaves you feeling overwhelmed.

Finally, **make regular supplemental mobility work a small, purposeful habit.** Stretching can help improve range of motion, but you don’t need to stretch every muscle every day. Pick two or three movements that address something you actually want to improve such as ankle motion for your squat, hip rotation, or overhead flexibility. Start with five minutes before your workout or after a daily walk, using slow, controlled repetitions or comfortable stretches without forcing painful positions. Repeat the routine several days a week, then check whether the movement you care about is becoming easier over the next few weeks. Think of mobility as practice for moving, and not a way to erase every hard workout.

**Just a reminder, Your recovery routine should support the things you love doing, without taking over your schedule!**
